The Zhengzhou Metro is the rapid transit system serving Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province in central China. Construction began in 2009, and the first section of Line 1 opened on December 28, 2013, marking the beginning of modern urban rail transport in the city. The network expanded rapidly with new lines connecting the city center, residential districts, railway stations and important economic areas. Line 2 opened in 2016, followed by several other routes that extended coverage across the metropolitan area. Today, the Zhengzhou Metro is a major component of the city's public transportation system, helping manage the growth of this rapidly developing regional hub.
