The Incheon Subway opened in 1999 with the launch of Line 1, providing a modern rapid transit system for South Korea's third-largest city. Since then, the network has expanded with Line 2, which began operating in 2016 using fully automated trains. Incheon is also connected to the Seoul Metropolitan Subway network through several lines, allowing convenient travel between Incheon, Seoul, and nearby cities. Today, the system plays a vital role in daily commuting and supports access to Incheon International Airport through integrated rail services.
