The Bhopal Metro is a rapid transit system serving Bhopal, the capital of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The project was approved in 2018 to provide a modern and sustainable public transport network for the city's growing population, with construction beginning in 2019. After several years of work and testing, the first section of the Orange Line officially entered passenger service on 20 December 2025. This initial 7-kilometre Priority Corridor serves eight stations between Subhash Nagar and AIIMS Bhopal. When fully completed, the network will consist of two lines covering approximately 31 kilometres and connecting major residential areas, commercial districts, educational institutions, and transport hubs. The Bhopal Metro is expected to play a key role in reducing traffic congestion and supporting the city's long-term urban development as further extensions are completed.
