The Doha Metro opened on 8 May 2019 as part of Qatar's ambitious transportation modernization program. Built to support the country's rapid growth and the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the fully automated network connects Hamad International Airport, central Doha, Lusail and many of the city's main business and residential districts. Today, it is one of the most modern metro systems in the Middle East.
