The Bilbao Metro opened on 11 November 1995, providing a modern rapid transit system for the metropolitan area of Bilbao in northern Spain. Designed by renowned British architect Norman Foster, its distinctive glass entrances, known as Fosteritos, have become one of the city's architectural symbols. Today, the network continues to expand and serves millions of passengers each year, connecting Bilbao with many surrounding municipalities.
